Joseph Park, MPT, CAFS

About Joseph

I have been a physical therapist for more than 17 years and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Master’s in Physical Therapy. My career has been spent primarily in outpatient orthopedics and chronic pain care, where I focus on a comprehensive, whole-person approach to treatment. I’m passionate about helping patients reduce pain, restore movement, and return to the activities that matter most to them. I enjoy partnering with each patient to understand their goals and create a plan that supports both recovery and long-term health. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active in ministry, and taking advantage of all that San Diego has to offer.

Joseph's approach to care

My treatment philosophy centers on partnering with patients to understand the root causes of their pain and movement limitations, not just the symptoms. I use a combination of hands-on manual therapy, targeted exercise, and movement retraining to help restore function and build long-term resilience. With a background in orthopedics and chronic pain care, I emphasize education and empowering patients with tools they can use beyond the clinic. My goal is to create a collaborative environment where patients feel supported, understood, and confident in their recovery journey.

What to expect in your first session

During your first visit, we will spend time discussing your medical history, current symptoms, and the goals you hope to achieve with physical therapy. The appointment typically lasts about 45–60 minutes and includes a thorough evaluation of your movement, strength, flexibility, and areas of pain or limitation. Based on this evaluation, we will begin developing a personalized treatment plan that may include hands-on manual therapy techniques such as fascial counterstrain, along with a home exercise program using principles from Applied Functional Science to help restore natural movement. Please bring any relevant medical reports or imaging and wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
